Rambouillet 2-Ply DK

DK weight yarn, hand-dyed using Bainbridge farmed or foraged plants.

Our Rambouillet DK base is a springy 2 ply and is a versatile choice for both garments and cozy accessories to be worn next to the skin. 

We at Local Color Fiber Studio grow and gather our dye-material, use non-toxic mordants and source only sustainably raised US grown and milled wool. We care about our environmental footprint and are passionate about utilizing plants, fungi and lichen that flourish in our climate.

Each skein is:

-  100 grams, 262 yards

-  dK weight, 2-ply 100% Rambouillet wool 

-   recommended gauge: US 5-7, 3.75-4.5 mm, 21-24 st to 4 in 

Rambouillet is a breed of sheep sometimes known as the French Merino- this breed does well in the Western states and produces wonderfully springy, durable, soft wool that can also be used for felting projects.

Washington state residents will be charged 6.5% sales tax. Please allow at least a week for us to dye and ship your yarn.

Dyes:

  • MADDER ROOT- ranges from terracotta red to poppy red to a peachy coral
  • COREOPSIS- subtly variegated ranging from cream, to persimmon to burnt orange
  • ONION SKIN- ranges from a vivid sungold yellow to more muted golden wheat
  • MARIGOLD- ranges from a bleached sandy yellow to lemony yellow to ochre
  • RUDBECKIA- ranges from silvery sage to khaki green
  • INDIGO- sky blue, true blue royal blue: dyed using Japanese Indigo
  • GRAPE- dark lavender
  • SALAL BERRY- subtly variegated French Grey
