Sept 9 Indigo Workshop

Sept 9 Indigo Workshop

New for 2016 is our all indigo workshop and dye day!

Here at Local Color Fiber Studio, we grow a lot of indigo! Join us for this all blue workshop and learn all about indigo cultivation, harvest, and vat making. We will delve into the history of this important crop and make several types of indigo vats. We will also play with overdyeing and create even more shades. Guest instructor Elizabeth Merrill will demonstrate several shibori techniques to create unique, one of a kind fabrics.

You will have the opportunity to dye and take home your own yarn, silk scarf, and fabric yardage.

More of these materials will be available for purchase, a la carte, at the workshop.

Our venue this year is the beautiful Bainbridge Vineyards, located on scenic Bainbridge Island, just a short ferry ride from Seattle. After the class, stop by the tasting room for a relaxing glass of estate grown wine!

Workshop time:

Saturday September 9, 2017, 11am-3:30pm

Note: This workshop is held on a working farm. Please be prepared and dressed for the occasion.
