2019 FIBER CSA
2019 FIBER CSA
Our method of yarn production is slow. Each skein of yarn symbolizes an entire year’s worth of work and sunlight energy. It takes the animals a year to grow the fiber and it takes months of work to grow and gather the natural dyes we use. The resulting yarns, while lovely and special, take significant investment from the farmer to get to market.
You can be an integral part of our farm by joining our Fiber CSA.
CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is a way for farm members to purchase a share of the farm’s harvest before the season begins. The farm is able to cover annual startup costs with this investment. Our Fiber CSA will allow us to share the risk that farmers take on each year with our community. Farming is inherently risky and Mother Nature always has the last call. Some years there will be bumper crops of certain dye plants, other years, we may lose animals that we were counting on. By becoming a CSA member, you recognize that we are all tied together.
Our Fiber CSA will consist of three shipments throughout the year, along with in depth updates about life on the farm. Some shipments will be from our Finnsheep farm yarns, some shipments will be yarns from other ranches that are dyed with our farm grown natural dyes. Included with each shipment will be other goodies from other farmers and makers that we love. These will include handmade pottery, botanical body products, and other textiles. We are excited to showcase the talents of others in the our maker community!
